A release of liability form, or “Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability” (NRL), is required when selling a car. This form alerts the DMV that the ownership of the vehicle has been transferred.
Not all states require a release of liability, if you don’t see your state below, please double check your state laws.

General Terms and Conditions. ARC THRIFT STORES, a Colorado nonprofit corporation, doing business as VEHICLES FOR CHARITY (“VFC”), shall make arrangements for a towing company to pick up the vehicle from you. VFC shall have absolute and sole discretion to refuse any donation. At no cost to you, VFC shall direct the towing company to take possession of title to the vehicle when the towing company picks up the vehicle from you.
Before the towing company arrives, please make sure that you have cleaned all personal possessions out of the vehicle. The towing company shall determine whether a vehicle should be transported to a vehicle auction house or to a salvage company for sale. VFC will give you a receipt for your donation, which you can then use to obtain your tax deduction.
